Today I was a proctor in a 3rd Grade class at the school where I work. We administered the Pennsylvania System of School Assessment (PSSA) to them. I was very impressed on how they followed all the rules and how they went about taking the test. The test was English Learning and Art. It involved 21 multiple choice questions (Selected Response) and writing an essay. I was not allowed to assist the children. My only responsibility to walk around the room and ensure that they were not using anything or cheating. It was really hard to see them struggling with the questions, and not being able to explain it to them. I was really impressed with the essay though. They used a graphic organizer to put their thoughts together prior to writing the essay. They seem to know what they were doing with that part. The remaining parts of the tests will be administered throughout the week.
